Origin and history

The Saint-Pierre de Gaillard Church, built in 1880 in the Gothic Revival style, is an emblematic Catholic place of worship in the commune. Its architecture reflects the artistic influences of the time, with neat decorative elements and an imposing structure. The bell tower, completed shortly after construction, houses a 800 kg bell cast in 1881 by the Beauquis brothers, blessed in 1882 by the parish priest Levret.

In 1979, the church was enriched with an organ designed by Pierre Saby, a renowned organ maker. The interior furniture, including a crucifix, an altar and a cross path, is the work of Constant Demaison, while the paintings are signed by Robert Mestelan. These artistic elements demonstrate a desire to combine religious tradition and local know-how.

The last major renovation, in 1993, allowed to build a chapel dedicated to the Virgin, on the right side of the choir. This project strengthened the spiritual and community role of the building, while preserving its architectural and artistic heritage. The church remains a symbol of Savoyard heritage and a gathering place for the faithful.
