Pierre Cheneval - Architect Designer of the Baroque church in clover.

Origin and history

Saint-Pierre de La Rivière-Enverse Church is a Baroque-style Catholic building built on a clover plan. It is located in the Haute-Savoie department, in the heart of the commune of La Rivière-Enverse. Its architecture is attributed to the local architect Pierre Cheneval, from the Faucigny region. The building underwent major restoration in 1995 to preserve its heritage.

The parish of La Rivière-Enverse gained its autonomy in 1759, marking a key step in local history. The church houses several remarkable elements, including a altarpiece, a altar with torso columns dedicated to Saint Joseph, and a chandelier and statue of the Virgin, all considered to be classified as historical monuments. However, these rankings are not officially included in the Merimée database.

In 2011, press reports reported damage caused by xylophages on the classified table. This furniture, emblematic of Savoyard Baroque art, illustrates the cultural and religious importance of the building in the region. The church remains an architectural and historical testimony of the 18th century Haute Savoie.
