Origin and history

Saint-Samson Church is a Catholic religious building located in Trévou-Tréguignec, Côtes-d'Armor department, Brittany. It replaces an earlier church built in 1848, destroyed after being struck by lightning on September 7, 1914. The ruins were gradually dismantled, leaving only one block in boards in 1922.

The reconstruction of the church was decided after this tragic event. The first stone of the new church was blessed on 16 March 1924, marking the beginning of its reconstruction. Today, the building houses a cross road, a characteristic element of its interior heritage.

The church of Saint-Samson is part of the local religious landscape, linked to the diocese of Saint-Brieuc and Tréguier. It bears witness to the architectural and community history of Trévou-Tréguignec, while reflecting the challenges of reconstruction in the early 20th century after a natural disaster.
