Origin and history

The Saint-Saturnin church of Parnac, located in the Lot in Occitanie, is a neo-Gothic monument, the first mention of which dates back to 1309. Prior to the Revolution, it depended on the episcopal snack and was annexed to St.Martin's Church in Cels. Although rebuilt in the 19th century, a walled door suggests the presence of older masonries, testifying to a longer history.

The building, placed under the protection of Saint Saturnin, was renovated during the reign of Charles X (1824-1830). Its choir houses a 17th century polychrome panelling, classified as a historical monument since 1910. In March 1927, a flood flooded the church, marking a notable event in its recent history.

Saint Saturnin, to whom the church is dedicated, is a major figure of Christianity in Occitanie, notably associated with Toulouse. This link strengthens the historical and religious anchoring of the monument in the region, while stressing its role in local parish life since the Middle Ages.
