Two-span choir: registration by order of 3 October 1929

Origin and history

The church of Saint-Vallier de Noidant-le-Rocheux is a religious building built in the 15th century, located in the commune of Noidant-le-Rocheux, in the Haute-Marne (Great East region). This monument, typical of late medieval religious architecture, is marked by a two-span choir, a remarkable architectural element for this period. Its partial registration under the title of Historic Monuments, by order of 3 October 1929, underlines its heritage importance, although only this part is protected to date.

The location of the church, at 2 Rue du Maiselot, is documented in the Merimée base, with a geographical precision deemed a priori satisfactory. Owned by the commune, it is part of a rural context where parish churches played a central role, both spiritual and social, for the inhabitants. At the time of its construction, the region, then integrated into Champagne, was marked by an increasing agricultural economy and trade, within a changing feudal framework.

The sources available, including the Monumentum platform, indicate that the building is not systematically open to the visit, without details of any contemporary uses (rent, guest rooms). The Creative Commons license associated with photographs suggests a documentary and tourist interest, although internal data do not detail its current state or recent developments.
