Origin and history
Saint Vincent de Marolles-les-Buis Church is a religious building located in the commune of Marolles-les-Buis, in Eure-et-Loir, in the heart of the Centre-Val de Loire region. Dating from the 12th century, it embodies the typical medieval architecture of this period, marked by the construction of Romanesque churches in the French countryside. Its establishment reflects the importance of Christianity in the organization of local villages and parishes.
The church houses two remarkable glass windows dating from the 16th century, which were inscribed in 1906 as historical monuments. These stained glass windows, witnesses to Renaissance art, illustrate the evolution of artistic techniques and the richness of the region's religious heritage. Their preservation underscores the attention paid to these decorative elements in the early twentieth century.
Today, the church of Saint Vincent depends on the parish of Saint Lubin du Perche, itself attached to the dean of Perche. This integration into a wider parish structure reflects contemporary ecclesiastical reorganizations, while maintaining the historical link between the monument and the local community. The building continues to play a central role in the religious and cultural life of Marolles-les-Buis.
