Origin and history

The Saint Vincent de Sequières Church is a Romanesque church in ruins located in the abandoned village of Sequières, in the commune of Trévillach. This monument, now in a state of ruins, bears witness to a medieval past marked by the typical religious architecture of the region. Its Romanesque style, characteristic of the Roussillon churches, makes it a notable historical vestige, although little documented.

The village of Sequières, now abandoned, once housed this church, which probably played a central role in the spiritual and community life of the inhabitants. Romanesque churches in this region were often places of assembly, prayer and social organization, reflecting the importance of religion in everyday life in the Middle Ages. Today, these ruins recall the evolution of landscapes and lifestyles in the Eastern Pyrenees.
