Church, with the exception of the interior painted decoration (cf. A 1359): by order of 11 December 1995
Origin and history
The church Sainte-Anne de Leychert, located in the Ariège department in Occitanie, finds its origins in the 15th century, period of construction of its main structure. This religious monument, typical of late medieval architecture, has been enriched over the centuries by significant additions: a 17th century sacristy, a portal dated 1781 (18th century), as well as an interior decoration redone in the 19th century (with restoration in 1995). The choir preserves a painted decoration evoking the four Evangelists, distributed in the vault compartments, reflecting a desire to marry religious symbolism and aesthetics.
Ranked among the Historical Monuments since a decree of 11 December 1995, the church is protected with the exception of its interior painted decoration. Owned by the municipality of Leychert, it illustrates the evolution of artistic styles and liturgical needs over more than five centuries. The accuracy of its location, noted as satisfactory a priori (level 7/10), allows to locate its location in the village, near the Vge de Leychert, according to the GPS coordinates available.
Historical sources, including Monumentum and Merimée data, highlight its role in local heritage. The building embodies both an active place of worship and a witness to architectural transformations in Ariège, between the Middle Ages and the modern era. Its 18th century portal, marked by the date of 1781, and its 17th century sacristy reflect periods of renovation related to pastoral needs or artistic trends of their time.
