Saint-Barbe de Surfontaine Church dans l'Aisne

Origin and history

The Sainte-Barbe de Surfontaine Church is a religious monument located in the commune of Surfontaine, in the Hauts-de-France region. Although its existence is attested, the available sources do not specify its construction period or the architectural or historical details that could further characterize it. Parish churches, like Surfontain, played a central role in the life of rural communities in France.

They served not only as a place of worship, but also as a gathering point for social and civic events. In Hauts-de-France, a region marked by agricultural and artisanal history, these buildings often reflected the organization and beliefs of local people throughout the centuries.
