Origin and history

Saint Colombe Church, located in Lalinde, Dordogne, is a Catholic religious building dating from the Middle Ages. It is located in the centre of the village of Sainte-Colombe, a former commune integrated in Lalinde during the French Revolution. Surrounded by its cemetery, it embodies an architectural and spiritual heritage rooted in local history.

First listed in the historical monuments inventory in 1988, the church was then classified in full by order of 13 February 2002. This classification covers the entire building, including its unique nave, its flat bedside choir, and its square bell tower flanked by two side chapels. The facade, characterized by a sprocket wall raised several times, bears witness to the architectural changes experienced over the centuries.

Originally a priori church, Sainte-Colombe saw its status evolve with political and religious upheavals. The parish, united in Lalinde in 1790, was definitively attached to this commune after the Concordat of 1801, before being established as a branch in 1875. This monument, owned by the commune, illustrates the administrative and ecclesiastical transformations of the region since the Revolution.

Available sources, including Wikipedia and Monumentum, highlight its heritage importance. The precise address, 921 B Sainte-Colombe in Lalinde, as well as its Insee code (24223) confirm its anchoring in the Dordogne department in New Aquitaine. The church, open to the visit, remains a symbol of medieval Christian architecture and its heritage in Bergerac.
