Origin and history

Sainte-Radegonde de Morainville is a Catholic church located in Buis-sur-Damville, in the Eure department in Normandy. Although it was established in the present territory of Buis-sur-Damville, it once belonged to the commune of Morainville-sur-Damville, which was merged in 1971. This monument, whose current building dates from the 16th century, was donated in 1070 to the Abbey of Notre-Dame de Lyre, highlighting its historical and religious importance from the Middle Ages.

The church underwent transformations in the 17th and 19th centuries, reflecting the architectural changes and liturgical needs of each era. It has been listed as historic monuments since May 5, 1926, a recognition of its heritage value. Among its notable features are a half-timbered porch, typical of Norman architecture, and its location at the address 14-17 impasse of the Church.

Buis-sur-Damville has three churches in its territory, but that of Morainville is distinguished by its medieval history and official inscription. The municipality now owns it, and the building remains an architectural and spiritual testimony of the region, although information on its current accessibility (visits, rental) is not specified in the available sources.
