Origin and history

Saints-Pierre-et-Paul d'Igny Church, also known as Saints-Pierre-aux-Liens Church, is a Catholic religious building located in the commune of Igny, Haute-Saône, in the Burgundy-Franche-Comté region. Built during the second quarter of the eighteenth century, it represents an architectural example of this period in the region.

The building was listed as historic monuments by order of 7 August 1987, recognizing its heritage value. This protection covers the entire church, identified under the cadastral reference AB 117. The church is owned by the municipality of Igny, which underlines its local importance.

Claude-François Devosge, master of work, is associated with the realization of this monument. His involvement in the construction of the church testifies to his role in the religious architecture of the region. The building is located at 4 Place de la Mairie, 70700 Igny, and its location is considered satisfactory according to the location criteria.

In the 18th century, churches like Igny played a central role in community life. They served not only as a place of worship, but also as a gathering point for the inhabitants, reflecting the religious and social values of the time. Burgundy-Franche-Comté, a region to which Igny belongs, was marked by a mainly agricultural and artisanal economy, where religious buildings were major cultural and spiritual landmarks.
