Church: registration by decree of 8 June 1926

Origin and history

The church Saints-Pierre-et-Paul de Vorges-les-Pins is a religious building built in 1825 in the Doubs department, Burgundy-Franche-Comté. It has distinguished itself by its designation as historic monuments since 8 June 1926, recognizing its heritage value. Its architecture reflects popular styles in the early 19th century, a period marked by the reconstruction or renovation of many places of worship after revolutionary upheavals.

The church houses a 15th century bronze bell, classified as an object of historical monuments. This old furniture bears witness to an older heritage than the current building, suggesting a cultural continuity on this site. The building now depends on the parish of Notre-Dame du Mont, attached to the diocese of Besançon, illustrating its anchor in local religious life.

The protection of the church in 1926 is part of a broader dynamic of preserving the French heritage in the 20th century. At that time, religious monuments, often at the heart of villages, became symbols of the cultural and historical identity of the communes. Their conservation also responds to a need to transmit architectural and artistic know-how to future generations.
