Origin and history

The San Pantaleone church of Barrettali, classified as a Historical Monument, was built in the late sixteenth century. It has a two-storey facade, decorated with pilasters and surmounted by a curved pediment, typical of Corsican Baroque architecture. Inside, a vaulted nave and eight lateral altars underline its liturgical importance, while its polygonal bedside reinforces its monumental character.

The building was registered under the Historic Monuments by order of 28 December 1984, thereby recognizing its heritage value. Owned by the municipality of Barrettali, the church embodies the religious and architectural heritage of the Upper Corsica, with an approximate location reported at the place called 5167 Poggio.

The accuracy of its geographical location is considered satisfactory a priori (note 6/10), and sources such as Monumentum and Merimée data document its history. Although its current access (visit, rental, accommodation) is not specified, its past role as a place of worship and community gathering remains central to local history.
