Simultaneous Kunheim Church

Origin and history

The Simultaneous Kunheim Church is a religious monument located in the municipality of Kunheim, in the Greater East Region. This type of building, called "simultaneum", is characterized by a division of space between several denominations, generally Catholic and Protestant. This system, which emerged after the religious wars, was designed to ease religious tensions by allowing both communities to coexist in one place of worship.

In the historical context of the Great East, a region marked by intense cultural and religious exchanges, the simultaneous churches reflect a period of transition and compromise. These buildings played a central role in community life, serving as a gathering place for people regardless of their beliefs. Their presence attests to efforts to maintain social peace in often disputed territories.
