Origin and history

The former church Saint-Pierre-et-Saint-Paul de Beauché, located in Vendoeuvres in the region Centre-Val de Loire, dates from the 15th century. It is distinguished by a rectangular nave framed by two gables with ramps characteristic of this period. The chapel of Sainte-Catherine, adjoining the church, is accessible by a flamboyant side door, typical of the religious architecture of the time.

The building was under the patronage of the abbey of Saint-Genou, demonstrating its spiritual and social importance in the region. The land of Beauché, on the other hand, depended in fiefdom on the lords of Buzançais, highlighting the feudal ties that structured the local society. Inside, a credence and openworked stone partition allowed the faithful to follow the offices from the chapel, illustrating the architectural and liturgical ingenuity of the time.

The church's carved capitals add an artistic dimension to this monument, which was included in the inventory of Historical Monuments by order of 27 March 1968. This protection recognizes its heritage value and its role in the religious and architectural history of the region.
