Origin and history
The former theatre of Mende, now transformed into a cinema under the name Trianon, dates from the 2nd half of the 19th century. This monument illustrates the classical theatrical architecture of the period, with a three-part structure. A central forebody, slightly protruding, is rhythmized by two median columns and surmounted by a nude triangular pediment. The two-level elevation is emphasized by a moulure cornice, while a medallion adorns the axial span of the first floor.
Ranked a Historic Monument, the Trianon owes its protection to its facades and roofs, inscribed by decree of 9 November 1984. The property belongs to the municipality of Mende. The building, located at 5bis Boulevard Lucien-Arnault, embodies the cultural heritage of Lozérie, combining theatrical heritage and contemporary cinematic use. Its architecture reflects the aesthetic cannons of the 19th century, where symmetry and ordinance dominate.
The location of the monument, noted as fair (level 5/10) in the databases, is based on a specific address in the city centre. Although sources do not detail its current use beyond cinema, its listing as Historic Monuments attests to its heritage value. Available photographs, such as MOSSOT's Creative Commons license, document its current state.
