Origin and history
La Ferme du Château is an emblematic building located in Émiéville, Calvados department, Normandy. From the 18th century, it is distinguished by its portal, the only element listed as historical monuments since 22 November 1972. This portal, typical of the rural architecture of the period, bears witness to the local heritage and the importance of farms in the social and economic organization of Normandy under the Ancien Régime.
The farm is located on Rue du Colombier, in the heart of the village of Émiéville. Although little architectural detail is available, its inscription in the historical heritage underscores its cultural value and its role in Norman agricultural history. Calvados, a region with a strong rural tradition, had many similar farms, often linked to seigneuries or noble estates, as suggested by the name "Château Farm".
Available sources, including Wikipedia and Monumentum, confirm that only the entry portal (cadastre A 52) is officially protected. No information is provided on any owners, architects or significant events associated with this monument. The Château Farm thus illustrates the discreet but significant heritage of Norman agricultural buildings, often preserved for their representative character rather than for exceptional historical facts.
