Origin and history
The farm C.D. 47 of Grand'Combe-Châteleu, also known as Gauthier Gonet's old house, was built in 1626, during the 2nd quarter of the 17th century. This building, located in the Doubs department, embodies the rural architecture of the Franche-Comté of that time, marked by traditional construction techniques and a spatial organization adapted to agricultural and domestic activities.
During the 18th and 19th centuries, the farm underwent major structural changes. The historical documents mention, in particular, the enhancement of the ridges and droplets, as well as the layout of the killer (an architectural element typical of the comtois farms), dated precisely from 1779 and 1821. These changes reflect the evolution of the functional and aesthetic needs of the inhabitants, as well as the adaptation to the constructive norms of the time.
Classified as a Historical Monument, the farm has been partially protected since a decree of 2 March 1981. This decree specifically concerns the south-east facade on the road, including its entrance gate surmounted by a niche, as well as the hooded fireplace of the kitchen of the South-West apartment. These elements, characteristic of the Franc-Comté rural heritage, testify to the architectural and historical richness of the site.
The location of the farm, indicated as C.D. 47 in Grand'Combe-Châteleu, is documented in the Mérimée base under the code Insee 25285, attached to the Doubs department and to the Burgundy-Franche-Comté region. Although GPS coordinates suggest an approximate address (6 Bas de Grand Combe), the accuracy of this location is assessed as satisfactory a priori (note 6/10), highlighting the limitations of available geographic data.
