Roof; sarrazine chimney: inscription by decree of 14 April 1944

Origin and history

La Ferme de la Servette is a farm located in the Ain department, in the commune of Saint-Trivier-de-Courtes, north of the village. It is distinguished by its unique architecture, including its buckwheat fireplace and steep roof, which are rare in the region. The main building, dated with a master beam of 1453, is accompanied by several annexes. This monument illustrates late medieval rural architecture, adapted to local climatic constraints.

The Saracen fireplace and the roof of the farm have been listed as historical monuments since 14 April 1944. This recognition highlights the heritage importance of this site, which reflects the construction techniques and agricultural lifestyle of the area in the 15th century. The farm is located near a roundabout where several departmental roads converge (D975, D58b, D2), making it a notable historical and geographical landmark.

The hamlet of la Servette, where the farm is located, bears its name, highlighting its anchoring in the local landscape. Although information about its occupants or its precise use over the centuries is scarce, the preservation of its original structure makes it a remarkable example of the rural heritage of Bressan. The farm is today a material testimony of the agricultural history of Ain and the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region.
