Origin and history
Vidame Farm, located in Lachapelle-sous-Gerberoy in the department of Oise ( Hauts-de-France region), is a historical monument dating back to the 16th century. The building, partially rebuilt or modified in the 19th century, illustrates the evolution of agricultural and hydraulic techniques in Picardia. Its designation as historic monuments by order of 1 April 1986 protects, inter alia, its facades, roofs, and a vanage system on the river, bearing witness to its heritage and functional importance.
The farm consists of a house and barns, organized according to a traditional plan reflecting the agricultural practices of the modern era. The vanning system, a rare and technical element, emphasizes the adaptation of rural farms to local hydrological constraints. Although the sources do not mention historical figures related to its construction, its architecture and hydraulics make it a remarkable example of Picardian agricultural heritage, still partially visible today.
The site, referenced in the Mérimée base under INSEE 60335, is located at 2 Rue de la Motte in Lachapelle-sous-Gerberoy. Its state of conservation and its openness to the public (visits, accommodation) are not specified in the available sources. The farm is part of a rural landscape marked by the medieval and modern history of the region, where agriculture and livestock structure the economic and social life of local communities.
