Origin and history
The farm of the Broguets, also called the farm of the Grand Broguet or farm of Beauregard, is a building located in the commune of Saint-Sulpice, in the department of Ain, in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. This monument, whose precise history remains partially documented, is best known for its typical architecture and its sarrazine fireplace, an emblematic element that led to its classification as historical monuments in 1931. Farms in this region, such as the Broguet, played a central role in the local economy, often linked to agriculture and livestock.
In Bresse, traditional farming was organized around stone or torchi buildings, reflecting the construction techniques and lifestyles of rural populations between the Middle Ages and the modern era. These farms served not only as a place of production, but also as a living environment for peasant families, illustrating a social and economic organization rooted in the territory.
