Origin and history

The farm Reverdy de Saint-Julien-sur-Bibost is a large farm with a closed courtyard, typical of the northern region of the Lyon mountains. Its heritage interest lies in its interior and exterior decoration, painted and wooded, which offers a rare testimony on the daily lives of the inhabitants. The site was first mentioned in 1540, and its current organization resulted from the merger of three distinct properties in the seventeenth century.

Major renovations and beautifications were carried out around 1822-1823, when the painted decoration and woodwork were probably added or restored. The layout of the buildings, with the house facing the stable and barn, and the press in the northeast, reflects a functional organization characteristic of the farms in this area. House and operating buildings were listed in the Historical Monuments in 1994.

This farm illustrates the architectural and social evolution of farms in the Lyon mountains, from the 16th century to the 19th century. Its exceptional state of conservation, especially for interior decorations, makes it a valuable example for understanding local lifestyles and construction techniques. Today, the farm belongs to a private company, and its current use (visits, rentals, accommodation) is not specified in the available sources.
