Origin and history
The house of Flogeac is a historic house located in the commune of Salers, in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. This monument is distinguished by its central location, on Tysandier-d'Escous Square and Rue des Nobles, in the heart of the medieval village. Although its exact period of construction is not specified in the sources, its architecture and its inscription in historical monuments suggest a marked heritage importance in the urban landscape of Salers.
The house was the subject of two separate protective measures: an inscription by order of 19 May 1927 for the whole building (with the exception of the parts already classified), followed by a classification of facades and roofs by order of 19 July 1929. These protections highlight the architectural and historical value of the building, typical of noble or bourgeois houses in the region. Its inclusion in the list of historical monuments of Cantal strengthens its status as a local heritage to preserve.
Salers, a medieval village known for its volcanic stone architecture and its past linked to cattle farming, houses several protected buildings. The house of Flogeac is in this context where the old houses reflect the social and economic history of the Haute-Auvergne. These homes often served as residences for wealthy families, playing a role in community life and local commerce.
