Fontaine, in the centre of the square: inscription by order of 16 November 1942

Origin and history

The Bonneville Fountain is an emblematic building located in the commune of Bonneville, Haute-Savoie, region Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes. Built in the first half of the 19th century, it occupies a central square in the city, precisely on the square of the Town Hall. This monument, inscribed in historical monuments since 1942, reflects the architecture and town planning of its time, while playing a social and practical role for the inhabitants.

In the 19th century Haute-Savoie, public fountains were essential to daily life. They served as water supply points for the inhabitants, while providing meeting and exchange places. The Bonneville fountain, by its central location, illustrates this dual utilitarian and social function.

Its designation as historic monuments in 1942 reflects its heritage value and importance in local history.
