Origin and history
The Saint-Servais Fountain, located in the route des Venètes to La Trinité-Surzur (Morbihan), dates from the 2nd quarter of the 18th century. It was built on the site of an ancient chapel dedicated to St Servais, now extinct (destroyed in 1969). The building consists of a square edicle surmounted by a stone dome, decorated with a pediment bearing the engraved date of 1747. Four columns support a cornice, while a washer (sweet) extends to the front, bordered by a wall with a patted cross.
The fountain and its washhouse were listed as historic monuments on March 29, 1935, recognizing their heritage value. The site, owned by the commune, completes the former neighbouring chapel, also dedicated to Saint Servais. Its architecture, typical of the Breton fountains of the time, combines utilitarian function (knowledge) and religious dimension, reflecting the importance of sacred sources in local traditions.
The available sources (Wikipedia, Monumentum) highlight its role in the historical landscape of La Trinité-Surzur, a village of Morbihan with a religious and vernacular heritage. The accuracy of its location is estimated to be poor (note 5/10), with an official address registered as the route des Venètes. No information is provided on its current accessibility or possible restorations after 1935.
