Origin and history

The Saint Julitte Fountain is located at the so-called "Sainte Julitte" in the municipality of Ambon, Morbihan (Bretagne). It is in the immediate vicinity of the exit shoulder of Ambon on the express track towards Nantes. This monument, built in the 17th century, is representative of Breton votive fountains of that time, often associated with local cults or holy legends.

The fountain was listed as historic monuments on March 20, 1934, recognizing its heritage value. Its architecture is distinguished by a rectangular plan, open on three sides, with a two-paned roof supported by four columns. The front façade is decorated with a pediment carved with two palms and a cartridge bearing the date 1677, while the back wall, also decorated with palms, houses a votive niche lined with godrons. These stylistic elements combine Renaissance and Baroque influences, typical of Breton works of the late seventeenth century.

According to the sources of Monumentum, the fountain rests on a high margin, with an arcade roof, resting on four fudge pillars (local stone). Inside, the votive niche is framed by wingers, and the anterior face has Renaissance elements, as well as an inscription not specified in the sources. These features are a notable example of the small religious and hydraulic heritage of the region.

The monument is located at approximately 5039 Sainte-Julitte, 56190 Ambon, in an area whose geographical accuracy is estimated to be "passable" (note 5/10). No information is available on its current accessibility or possible tourist functions (visits, rentals).
