Origin and history
The fortifications of Bonneval, located in the commune of the same name in the region Centre-Val de Loire, date from the Middle Ages. These remains, although partially preserved, illustrate the defensive architecture typical of this period, marked by issues of protection of cities and populations. Their presence reflects Bonneval's strategic importance at a time when local conflicts and security needs shaped the urban landscape.
Classified as a Historic Monument by decree of 5 November 1927, these fortifications are officially recognized. Their inscription emphasizes their historical and architectural value, while integrating them into the corpus of protected buildings in the region. Although their current condition and accessibility are not detailed, their approximate location around Rue Saint-Roch allows them to be located in the urban fabric of Bonneval.
These remains offer a material testimony of medieval dynamics in Eure-et-Loir, a department marked by a rich feudal and religious past.
