Origin and history

The Fountain of Moissey is a monument located in the municipality of the same name, in Burgundy-Franche-Comté. Dating from the 3rd quarter of the 18th century, it bears witness to the architecture and drinking water needs of that time. Public fountains then played a central role in everyday life, serving as a gathering point and supply for the inhabitants.

In the 18th century, in Burgundy-Franche-Comté, fountains were often built to meet the growing needs of local populations. They also symbolized technical progress and the beautification of villages.
