Origin and history
The former hotel building Debia is a mansion built in the 18th century in the city of Montauban, Occitanie. This building illustrates the civil architecture of the Louis XV period, with a brick facade characteristic of southwestern France. Two wrought iron balconies, typical of the Louis XV style, adorn the facade, while an interior wooden staircase, with wrought balusters, bears witness to the refinement of the period.
The hotel belonged to the Debia family, whose members were both parliamentarians and fabricators, two emblematic activities of the 18th-century Montebanian elite. This social status is reflected in the decorative elements and the quality of materials used. The building has been partially protected since 1977, with an inscription under the title of Historic Monuments for its facades and roofs, highlighting its heritage importance.
Located at 15 rue du Général-Sarrail, the former Hotel Debia embodies the urban heritage of Montauban, combining parliamentary history and textile activity, two pillars of the local economy in modern times. The accuracy of its location is estimated as fair (level 5/10), according to available data. No information is provided on its current accessibility to the public or its contemporary uses.
