Origin and history
The Desbordes building is a historic monument located Place de la Halle in Auvillar, in the Tarn-et-Garonne. Built in the 18th century, it is singularized by older architectural elements: a door decorated with cariatids and a fireplace, both dating from the 16th century. These elements come from the Fours Castle, located in Cumont, and were reused in this building near the central hall of the village.
The facades and roofs of the Desbordes building were included in the inventory of Historic Monuments by order of 27 August 1956. This classification reflects the heritage value of the building, especially for its decorative elements inherited from the sixteenth century. The location of the building, on the main square of Auvillar, makes it an important part of the urban landscape of this village classified among the "Most Beautiful Villages of France".
The accuracy of the current location of the building is considered "passable" (note 5/10), based on available data. The official address recorded in the Merimée base is 5 Place de la Halle, confirming its anchoring in the historic heart of Auvillar. No information is provided on its accessibility to the public, whether it be visits, room rental or accommodation.
