Origin and history

Hotel d'Agincourt is a building located in Compiègne, in the Oise department, in the Hauts-de-France region. Built in the 17th century, it is a typical example of the civil architecture of this period, marked by neat facades and harmonious proportions. The building was classified as historic monuments by order of 28 August 1926, thereby recognizing its heritage and architectural value.

In the 17th century Compiègne was a dynamic city, close to Paris and frequented by the nobility and the bourgeoisie. Private hotels, such as Agincourt, served as urban residences for wealthy families, reflecting their social status. These buildings also played a role in local life, sometimes hosting economic activities or social meetings.

The protection of the facade by the Historic Monuments in 1926 underscores the importance of preserving this heritage, a witness to the urban and architectural history of Compiègne. Today, the Agincourt Hotel remains a key part of the historic landscape of the city, located at 13 rue Fournier-Sarlovèze, formerly rue d'Alger.
