Origin and history
This building, built in 1905 by architect Louis Delamas, embodies the influence of Art Nouveau in Clermont-Ferrand. Its facades, decorated with woodwork, sculptures and ironwork, evoke Gaudí's organic curves. The balance of its composition and the quality of its stone make it a striking example of the local architecture of the early twentieth century, with an angular section and two facades on the street.
Originally, the building had an elevated ground floor and two square floors. A third floor, almost identical, was added in 1933 by architect Pincot, preserving the initial harmony. Protected features since 1986 include facades, roofs and the entrance hall, highlighting its heritage value. The exact address, 10 rue de Ceyrat, confirms its anchoring in the city center.
The building illustrates the transition between Art Nouveau and the architectural evolutions of the 1930s, while reflecting the urban dynamism of Clermont-Ferrand at the turn of the century. Its careful equipment and its decorative details testify to an exceptional craftsmanship, characteristic of bourgeois constructions of the period.
