Origin and history
The building located 10 Parliament Square in Bordeaux is part of a coherent architectural complex of the eighteenth century, characterized by a uniform ordinance. The building, made of cut stone, features a commercial ground floor, two noble floors and a third attic treatise, all topped by a balustrade cornice. The keys are decorated with carved masks and shells, while each window has wrought iron balconies. Its construction dates back to 1754, as part of the development of the old square of the Royal Market, today place of Parliament.
The square, of irregular quadrilateral form, offers a remarkable stylistic unit for the period. The building has been one of the protected historical monuments since 1952, with an inscription covering its facade, roof and return to the rue du Parlement-Sainte-Catherine. The decorative elements, such as balconies and sculptures, illustrate the artisanal know-how of the Enlightenment in Bordeaux, then a port city in full economic and urban growth.
The exact address, 10 place du Parlement (33000 Bordeaux), corresponds to the code Insee 33063 (Gironde, Nouvelle-Aquitaine). Although GPS location is considered "passable" (note 5/10), the building remains a key testimony of the 18th century Bordeaux urban planning, marked by the influence of Parisian and classical architectures. No information is available on its current accessibility (visits, rentals) in the sources consulted.
