Pancy Barn (Case B 653): entry by order of 3 June 1991

Origin and history

The barn of Pancy is an agricultural building located in Angely, in the department of l'Yonne, Burgundy-Franche-Comté. Built in the 17th century, it is a typical example of barns of this time, linked to farming and livestock activities in the region. Its architecture reflects the practical needs of the rural communities of the time, where barns served as both a storage site for crops and a shelter for livestock.

The Pancy Barn was listed as historic monuments on June 3, 1991, recognizing its heritage value. Today, although partially abandoned, it remains an important testimony of Yonne's rural history. Barns of this type played a central role in the economic and social organization of villages, often associated with sheepfolds or other agricultural buildings.

Their preservation allows to understand the traditional lifestyles and construction techniques of Burgundy.
