Origin and history

The community centre of the Gril holiday village, also known as the Domaine du Lac, was built in the 3rd quarter of the 20th century in Égletons, New Aquitaine. Designed by architect Roland Schweitzer, this raw concrete building consists of rectangular volumes with a partially buried ground floor. It houses reception areas, administration, kitchens and the dining room, forming the functional heart of the site.

A piling bridge extends the whole over the lake, creating a symbolic link between human infrastructure and the natural landscape. This architectural choice reflects a desire to integrate harmoniously with the environment, typical of the achievements of this period for tourist or community facilities.

The central pavilion was inscribed in the Historic Monuments by order of 26 December 2012, recognizing its heritage value. Owned by the municipality of Egletons, it illustrates the modern architectural heritage linked to the rise of collective leisure in rural areas after the Thirty Glories. The accuracy of its location is estimated a priori satisfactory (level 6/10), according to available data.
