Origin and history

The Halle de Lempdes-sur-Allagnon is an 18th-century stone building located in the Haute-Loire department in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. It is distinguished by its atypical triangular plane, with one curved side and two other uneven lengths. The highly circular is based on an alternation of pillars and columns, in a precise architectural rhythm: a pillar, three columns, a pillar, repeated twice. This structure reflects the attention paid to the classical educational programs of the time.

The hall occupies a central place in the village, on the Place de l'Église, at the border between the Haute-Loire and the Puy-de-Dôme. It was listed in the Historic Monuments by order of 2 May 1956, thus recognizing its heritage value. The architectural design, combining geometric rigor and elegance, illustrates the influence of classical principles in 18th century rural public buildings.

This monument, owned by the commune, bears witness to the importance of the halls as places of assembly and economic exchange in the villages of Auvergne. Its inscription as the Historic Monuments in 1956 preserved this rare example of 18th-century civil architecture, marked by an original triangular composition and a column portico. The hall remains an emblematic element of the local heritage, linked to the social and economic history of Lempdes-sur-Allagnon.
