Origin and history
The Halle des Ormes, located in the commune of Ormes in New Aquitaine, is a monument whose construction spans the 17th and 18th centuries. This building, typical of medieval and modern halls, probably served as a gathering place for local markets and trade. Its architecture reflects the practical and social needs of the rural community of the time, where the halls played a central role in economic and collective life.
Classified as a Historical Monument, the Halle des Ormes was registered by arrest on 26 March 1934. This official protection underscores its heritage importance and its representative character of the civilian constructions of this period. Today, it remains a key element of the local heritage, located in Church Square, and belongs to the municipality.
Although its current use (visit, rental, accommodation) is not specified in the sources, its central location and history make it an emblematic place of the Ormes and the Poitou-Charentes region, now integrated into New Aquitaine.
