Origin and history

The house Arrighi de Casanova, located in Corte, Corsica, is a historical monument of the 3rd quarter of the 18th century. Rebuilt in 1760 after a fire, it has a characteristic architecture of the time, with a two-step porch, a staircase rotating on a wall deciphered full, and arched flat arches. The interior consists of four rooms and a kitchen, reflecting the lifestyle of the era.

The house is closely linked to the history of the Bonaparte family. Charles-Marie Bonaparte, father of Napoleon I, lived there in 1768. Joseph Bonaparte, Napoleon's older brother, was born in this house on January 7, 1768. These historical elements earned him an inscription in the Historical Monuments by order of 30 January 1990.

Today, the house Arrighi de Casanova belongs to the municipality of Corte. Although its current use (visit, rental, guest rooms) is not specified in the sources, its heritage importance and its connection with the Bonaparte family make it an emblematic place of the city. The location, estimated to be satisfactory, is indicated in place of Armes, in the heart of Corte.
