Maison du 16s : inscription by order of 6 July 1925

Origin and history

The 16th century House, located behind Arc-en-Barrois Town Hall, near rue du Moulin, is an emblematic monument of Renaissance civil architecture in this region. Built in the 16th century, it illustrates the architectural style of this period, marked by medieval and renaissant influences. This type of house often reflects the growing prosperity of the towns at that time, when artisanal and commercial activities developed.

Classified as a Historical Monument by order of 6 July 1925, this house is one of the protected elements of the local heritage. Its inscription bears witness to its historical and architectural importance for the commune of Arc-en-Barrois, located in the Haute-Marne department, in the Grand Est region. The houses of this period were often used as housing for local notables or merchants, playing a central role in the economic and social life of the city.
