Origin and history
The 15th century house of Lacapelle-Livron is a historical monument built in irregular stone and stone. Its ground floor preserves two bays with typical frames from the late 15th century, while the upper floors have openings of various styles, including a lintel bay in a braid. These disparities suggest reuse of materials from previous demolitions.
The building collapsed in 1967, resulting in the disappearance of most of its original materials. Originally listed as historical monuments by order of 19 June 1926, this protection was repealed on 24 March 2014. The house thus illustrates the challenges of preserving medieval buildings in rural areas, where the transformations and hazards of time are often due to the heritage.
Located in the village of Lacapelle-Livron (Tarn-et-Garonne), this house reflects the local construction techniques of the late Middle Ages. Its modest architecture, marked by decorative elements such as ground supports or carved lintels, bears witness to regional craftsmanship. Despite its deterioration, it remains an emblematic vestige of medieval civil heritage in Occitanie.
