Church: registration by decree of 9 September 1935
Origin and history
The church of Saint-Laurent de Rougnat, located in the Creuse department in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region, is a religious building built in the 13th century. Its architecture reflects the characteristics of this period, with a vaulted nave of warheads and committed columns. The southern porch, adorned with broken windows and hooked capitals, is particularly representative of the late Romanesque or early Gothic style of the region.
The church was listed as historic monuments by order of 9 September 1935, recognizing its heritage value. The building also includes a transept with two apsidioles in hemicycle, and an apse initially pierced with three bays. These architectural elements demonstrate the importance of this building in the local religious and cultural landscape.
The property of the church belongs to the commune of Rougnat, and its exact address is 6 Rue de la Poste, as indicated in the Mérimée base. Although information on its current accessibility (visits, rental) is not specified, its status as a historical monument makes it a place of interest for the study of the medieval architectural heritage of Limousin (now integrated into the New Aquitaine).
