Facades and roofs of the house in wooden strip on corbellation (Box AD 25): inscription by order of 14 March 1996

Origin and history

The log house at 7-9 rue du Général-de-Gaulle in Liesse-Notre-Dame is a civil building dating from the 15th and 16th century hinge. It is distinguished by its wooden structure with double corbellation, typical of late medieval architecture, and its facades richly decorated with carved motifs (balusters and shields). Its location, close to Notre Dame Basilica, suggests a link to the religious and urban activity of the city at that time.

The protection of this monument was formalized by an order of 14 March 1996, specifically covering facades and roofs. The house, now owned by the commune, illustrates the civil architectural heritage of Hauts-de-France, marked by the use of woodpan and symbolic decorations (ECU). Its state of conservation and its location, although noted as approximate (precision: 5/10), make it a rare witness to the bourgeois or artisanal habitat of the late Middle Ages in the region.

The available sources (Monumentum, Mérimée base) highlight its inscription under the title of Historical Monuments, without specifying its current use (visit, rental, or guest rooms). The Insee code of the municipality (02430) and its attachment to the department of Aisne (02) complete its territorial anchoring in the former Picardie, now integrated in the Hauts-de-France.
