The entire hotel, as well as the facades and roofs of its communes (cad. AC 619): registration by decree of 5 December 2016
Origin and history
Hotel Coiffier is a historic monument located in Aigueperse, in the department of Puy-de-Dôme, in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. Built in the 17th century, it represents a typical example of the civil architecture of this period, with protected elements including the entire hotel as well as the facades and roofs of its communes. Its registration as a Historic Monument by order of 5 December 2016 bears witness to its heritage value and its local importance.
In the 17th century, the Aigueperse region, like a large part of the Auvergne, was marked by a rural and artisanal society, where private hotels like this often served as residences for bourgeois families or local notables. These buildings reflected the social status of their owners and played a role in the economic and cultural life of the city. Their preservation now makes it possible to better understand the lifestyles and urban organization of this period.
The information available about the Hotel Coiffier comes mainly from the Merimée base and Monumentum. The building is located at 121 Grande-Rue, although approximate GPS coordinates suggest an alternative address nearby. The accuracy of its location is considered fair, and its current state, although protected, is not detailed in the sources consulted. No information is provided on its accessibility to the public, whether it be visits, room rental or accommodation.
