Origin and history

Hotel de Bonneval is a private hotel located in the 3rd arrondissement of Paris, at 14 and 16 rue du Parc-Royal. This building, built in the 18th century, illustrates the aristocratic residential architecture of that time in the capital. Its street portal, facades, roofs, and a pavilion decorated with a staircase with mural paintings testify to its past prestige.

The hotel was listed as historical monuments on 3 July 1961. This protection specifically concerns the gate on street, the facades and roofs of the pavilions surrounding this gate, as well as the entire pavilion on courtyard, including a decorated staircase. The former parts of a second pavilion, located in the second courtyard, are also protected. These elements reflect the heritage importance of the building.

In Paris, in the 18th century, private hotels such as Bonneval served as urban residences for the aristocracy and the affluent bourgeoisie. These homes were often organized around inner courtyards and gardens, symbolizing the social status of their owners. Their preservation today makes it possible to understand the urban and architectural evolution of the city.
