Origin and history

The Hotel de Faucher is an emblematic building located on Rue du Peuple, in the municipality of Bollène (Vaucluse). Built on the foundations of a 15th century building, it embodies local architectural evolution, mixing medieval heritage and subsequent transformations. His history was marked by changes of owners, including the Rocher family, before his acquisition in 1802 by Louis Martin de Faucher, giving him his current name.

The initiative of its construction is the responsibility of Maître Raymond Rocher, notary in Bollène, whose family kept the building for several generations. Sold in 1802 by Madame de Pontbrillant, the property passes into the hands of Louis Martin de Faucher, sealing its definitive name. The hotel is distinguished by its two-winged structure connected by a central staircase, with various spaces: a three-storey north wing, and a south wing including a kennel, an orange shop and a carpentry workshop.

Ranked as historical monuments since 7 December 1970, the Hotel de Faucher is known for its facades, roofs and interior staircase in wrought iron. These protected elements testify to its heritage importance in the Vaucluse, while illustrating the adaptation of old buildings to the 18th and 19th century residential and artisanal needs.

The hotel's space configuration, with 2,500 m2, reflects a typical organisation of Provencal private hotels, where noble spaces and areas dedicated to practical activities coexist. Its inscription in the heritage underscores the desire to preserve a representative example of the civil architecture of the Provence-Alpes-Côte d的Azur region, between medieval heritage and post-revolutionary modernity.
