Origin and history

The Hotel de Justamond is a mansion built in the 16th century by the family of Justamond, in the city of Bollène. This building, located on Rue Frédéric Mistral, reflects the civil architecture of the Renaissance and has undergone major embellishments in the following century, both on its structure and in its Italian-style gardens. These 18th century transformations marked its aesthetic and functional evolution, incorporating decorative elements characteristic of the period.

The hotel is recognized for its architectural and landscape heritage, which led to its registration as historic monuments on 7 December 1970. This protection specifically concerns facades, roofs (on streets and courtyards), as well as vaulted rooms, stressing the importance of preserving these emblematic elements. The monument is thus part of the cultural landscape of the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region, bearing witness to the local history and influence of noble families.

Today, the Hotel de Justamond remains a notable example of a Provencal mansion, combining Renaissance heritage and classical modifications. Its official address, 9 rue Frédéric-Mistral, and its Insee code (84019) place it precisely in the department of Vaucluse, under the jurisdiction of Avignon. Although the information on his current access (visits, rental) is not detailed, his heritage value is attested by his card in the Merimée database and his Creative Commons license for visual representations.
