Origin and history
The Hotel de Melat, located in Saint-Symphorien-d'Ozon in the Rhône department, is an emblematic building of the 4th quarter of the 18th century. Ranked as a Historic Monument, it is distinguished by its facades and roofs, as well as by protected interior elements such as the wrought iron stairwell, the old reception hall and the decorated gallery on the first floor. These architectural features reflect the refinement of the period and the know-how of local artisans.
The Hotel de Melat was included in the inventory of Historic Monuments by order of 20 December 1990. The construction work was carried out under the direction of Joseph-François Desarnot, the architect identified in the archives. Today, the building belongs to the commune of Saint-Symphorien-d'Ozon and bears witness to the architectural heritage of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region.
