Origin and history

The Hotel de Metz de Rosnay, also known as the Hotel de Forceville or Hotel Vigier, is a private hotel located on the Place des Victoires in the 2nd arrondissement of Paris. Built in the 4th quarter of the 17th century, it occupies the location of the former hotel of La Ferté-Senneterre, between the rue La Feuillade and the hotel of Prévanches. Its architecture reflects the style of Parisian private hotels of that time, integrated into a prestigious urban setting.

The building was classified as historic monuments by order of 22 November 1962, protecting its façade on the square and its corresponding roof. This protection has helped to preserve interior elements, such as woodwork and the spatial organization of the entresol, now occupied by a banking agency. These characteristics reflect the adaptation of the building to modern uses while maintaining its architectural heritage.

Although owned by a private company, the Hotel de Metz de Rosnay remains a notable example of the 17th century Parisian heritage. Its location on the Place des Victoires, an emblematic place of the capital, reinforces its historical and urban importance. Available sources, such as Wikipedia and Monumentum, confirm its status as a protected monument and its role in the Parisian architectural landscape.
