Origin and history

The Hotel de Pélissier, also called Hotel Pellissier, is a mansion built in the 18th century in the municipality of Vian, in Vaucluse. It was built between 1740 and 1770 on land acquired by the Pellissier family of Saint-Féréol, replacing old houses demolished for the occasion. The architecture is signed by architects Lambertin and Tessier, and the building is adjoining the current town hall.

The hotel was ordered by Joseph Pellissier de Saint-Ferréol, then president of the church court of Carpentras. Since 2012, it has been included in the additional inventory of historical monuments. Today, it belongs to the commune and serves as a venue for exhibitions, cultural events and wedding ceremonies.

The building illustrates the influence of the local nobility of Comtat Venaissin, then under the authority of the popes of Avignon. Its current use reflects its integration into Visan's public life, combining historical heritage and civic function.
